Harley riding gear!?
Hello all! I just purchased my first Harley and I'm pumped! I love all different Motorsports and I know that I will enjoy my new street glide as well! I know that gear is important, but I have absolutely no idea where to begin. What do I need. What's the best stuff? What should I avoid? What's the best eyewear? Rain gear apparel etc.? Leather or no leather? My gut instinct is the leather is pry safer in the event of a crash, but I would like to know from some experienced riders. Thanks everybody.

"Harley" boots, which are made by Wolverine, are reasonably priced and good quality. I know some riders "poo poo" leatherup.com but I have found their products to be fine (boots, rainsuits, gloves, and fleece have all worked well for me)

I mostly ride in what I'm comfortable in. I don't need any special gear to ride. I mean when it's 95 degrees and humid there is no way I'm wearing leather. Blue jeans and a tshirt for me. Sometimes I wear boots sometimes sneakers. I do have some harley gear and find it very good quality though. I have a harley helmet but mostly got it because I had trouble finding a helmet that fit me just right. Tried it on and it fit my head perfect so I bought it. Colder weather I ride in carharts and a heavy coat made by Columbia. Rode in 23 degree weather with that combo and stayed warm.

New stuff
Take a deep breath.....Then look around and see what's out there. There is a ton of places selling....I for one cannot spend $400 to $600 for a jacket. Not saying they aren't the best. Just saying I can put $400 to $600 into a lot of stuff without the name. If you do decide to order online. Read tons of reviews on that item. I order from one place and so far everything has been fine. Good Luck. Have a great time and don't get into how you think others want you to look. There is always a high riding a Harley.

This will cause a **** storm I know it, but.....
If you go to your local biker bar, look around and take note of all the gear that the other's are wearing. Pay particular attention to the guys that have nice shiny looking bikes and leathers, then go out and find gear that doesn't look like any of them.
Hahahaha, on a serious note, Harley makes some really nice gear, just be aware that some of it is for the fashion minded and some of it is for actual riding. The prettier it is, the better chance it was made for "After the Ride"
