H-D Riders Under 25?
#21
Well, with the advent of a whole new market in the way of used bikes for under 10K, I would expect that there'd be quite a number of under 25 riders.
Firstly, insurance is way cheaper for a Harley than a sport bike. Secondly, I've seen 883s ready to ride for about 3-5K. No shortage of options either.
For me, Harley isn't a fad. My parents had one. My dad's wife's dad rode one in wwII as a dispatch rider, delivering mail. I have always wanted one, but until later in life, they weren't really available. In the 90s, people were paying 25K for a Wide Glide. But today, with such a huge market for used bikes, you can find one in great condition for about 6-8K, and it'll last for as long as you want it to.
I am green with envy. I wish I was 25 again, and had the option you guys have today.

When I was 21(1982) I checked to see what motorcycle insurance would be because I was considering getting a bike, $1800 a year on a $5000 bike, with no violations. Now I pay $400ish per year for a bike that cost $20,000. First break for a male in Cal is at 25 on insurance premiums, at least it used to be 25.

I figure 16-23 sporty, over 23 - dyna, over 40 - bagger. Chuck a softail somewhere in there if you like. Me? Been on a softail, loved the look, hated the ride, never going back. Riding a Dyna for a few more years till I pack it in and grab a bagger LOL.

I'm 60. Will be 61 in a couple weeks. Been riding Harleys since I was 18. I could pass for 59 & 1/2. Ain't been carded for a quite few years, but it would not **** me off if someone asked for my ID when I was picking up my weekly supply of Captain Morgan.
