What most don't realize is that we run stock compound tires (Dunlop D402). The rear shocks are actually the biggest contributing factor to getting traction. Stiff lowering shocks are primarily the reason no one thinks they can get traction. We all run at least 13" shocks on our bikes. As far as tires go however, the manufacture date is important to look at when you buy a new tire. make sure it was actually made within the year it is being purchased, otherwise the rubber gets a lot harder as it gets older and thus much more challenging to get the traction needed to get the bike up.
