Default Doing a cam need tools ?

I am going to order a cam from Fuelmoto next week .
I will do the cam install myself and I do have a lot of tools .
The only tool I need is the inner cam bearing tool .
Can I rent this tool someplace ? I really don,t need to buy one for one cam install if I can rent one ?

I bet you could sell whatever set you buy here at HDForum for about $20 less than new. I bought a set from Heartland, have not used them yet but they look nice and were pretty affordable ~ $90.

Bought the Heartland set from eBay. Worked fine. There will be people that tell you just to tap the new bearing in with the old cam and that you won't need a bearing installer, but I don't recommend that. If you are going to put in a new cam with better bearings, I suggest doing it properly with proper tools. Not a good idea to get that bearing in there cockeyed and not have it countersunk to the proper depth...

Did the bearing tool change from the one used on a TC88? I got a 103 now and hope to use the same tools.

It depends on the year I think. Someone said that the later model bearings are larger? Like after 2007 and 2006 and newer dyna?

You can rent tools from Johnson Engineering at $30 apiece. You will need 2(removal & Install) so $60.

I purchased a tool from Gary Beaty that does both. The cost was $93 including priority shipping and insurance.

You can contact gary at:
madtownrydr@yahoo.com

Great tool and reasonably priced. Does both install and removal....and you can sell it if you won't need it again. He also sells the bearing set for $15.

Fuel moto also sells a cam install kit with all the gaskets, o-rings, and bearings for a very reasonable price. I've used it and it's very complete.

Thanks for the info . I do plain buying the Fuelmoto install kit .
I bought a PowerVision from FM last year and happy with it (CLASS ACT)

My one local Harley wrench will install the cam for $125.00 and I think that is a very good price . The only problem is he is 55 miles from me and it is cold as hell for the next week or more .
