Default CV Carb Question

I have searched other posts and did not come up with anything on it so I will try here. It is a CV carb. If the bike is "NOT" running and you twist the throttle , gas will spray outward (at you). Is this normal ??. Bike runs ok ... Thanks for your feedback on this .

If it's a CV carb and the bike's not running, then there's no vacuum to lift the slide . The accelerator pump is just a manual plunger, so it may spray gas against the closed slide and that would bounce back outward...as I recall...

I seem to recall similar behavior from mine when I had it a few years ago.

The slide needs vacuum to lift , then the spray is drawn into the carb throat into comb. chambers. Lift the top off the carb and check the diaphragm on the vacuum piston for any tears. If you can't do it find some one that can overhaul your carb for you.

Inside the throat of the carb,on the bottom, there's a brass hex shaped tube which is the accelerator pump jet. You can turn that with a 1/4" wrench,so that the hole points inward not outward. Aim it to squirt at the center of the slide.

Its not hex shaped unless its been replaced with an aftermarket one, they are normally round with a flat side on it, but still the same concept grab it with a pair of vice grips and twist it so it sprays thru the carb
