It is much easier to sand them down with 400 grit wet paper, and then down to 1000 then buff them with a polishing wheel, and whatever aluminum polish you like.

I need to polish my primary. What is best to use? I bought some of the polish they sell at car shows, bike week and world of wheels. It will take a year for that to work

You have to strip the clear coat off first, then you can polish it to a mirror shine.
There are many acceptable methods for removing the clear coat....I used Acetone and a couple Scotch Brite pads to strip the clear by hand...all elbow grease. I also did it in place, and was able to get to everything fairly easy....only thing I removed was the fender.
I had taken fender off and front rim and tire , (put new front tire on , so rim had to come off anyway) got one polished wow what a difference ! One to go !
