synthetic or regular oil

You're a *****, I take a shovel full of tar sand and cram it in the oil hole with a screwdriver. The extra grit is good for cleaning out the sledge left over from the synthetic I used to have in there.

I made the switch from synthetic to "regular" oil this last oil change, hoping it'd stop the sewing machine ticking. It didn't.

I did an experiment last summer, switched from regular to synthetic one oil change, all three holes, to see if I could notice a difference. I can say that I didn't notice anything different, it sounded the same, gears worked the same, clutch worked the same, got the same gas milage. I ride my bike everday to work 1/2 hour in each direction. I've done it so many times I have a routine, same roads, same lanes, same speed every day. I know the bike, every sound, every squeak. There was no change.
The only thing that was different was that the crankcase oil would run consistently 10 degrees hotter. That's right, the synthetic oil runs 10 degrees hotter than regular oil. That is due to the heat transfer property of the oil, it's a bit higher for synthetic. I don't know if that translates to a cooler head temperature, I didn't have the equipment to measure it.
