I have two brothers, one has pancreatic cancer, one has had chemo and surgery in the last 3 months and has now been declared 'in remission'. They both used to ride. If either of them asked me for a ride there would be no second thought, no worries of what people thought, they'd get their ride.

Back in 2002 when I bought my previous bike I asked a buddy to give me a lift to pick it up. We decided that it was foolish for him to drive his truck 40 miles so I could pick up my bike. So, I climbed on the back of his bike and we went to get my bike. We then enjoyed a 4 hour ride. I really didn't care who saw us riding 2 up. It's their problem, not mine.

You did a good thing, don't worry about 'them'.

I'm a solo rider all my life. My bikes get solo seats and the passenger pegs removed. Would not work if I ran into that situation. I have an out. They could ride in the sidecar on my Ural.

Not gonna happen for him if he just wants a ride. Now, if he needs a ride, that's different.

Thanks for the post, Scratt, and for reminding us what's really important. Seeing the smile on your Brother's face says it all. May his memory be for a blessing.

Depending on who it is I will still do that.

But this year I had a non riding Brother ask me for a ride. He is battling the big C. Terminal. I asked another Brother to get some guys up to ride with us. My Brother was not supposed to ride that day because his blood counts were WAY off, but he knew time was short and went anyway. We had a great ride in the rain! And you could not get the smile off his face even after the ride.

I was off the road today(trucker) luckily, I wont get into what happened. I hope he awakes for Thanksgiving.

If you have a bud that want's a ride on your Harley, Just ****in do it. If anyone gives you ****, tell them I said to **** OFF!

Sorry for your loss. Hell, I would have given him a ride in his circumstances. I looked all through the manual and riding tips book that came with my14 Limited and nowhere does it say you cant bring some joy into a friends life, especially these circumstances. So if the Moco doesnt prohibit it, it must be ok. We are our brothers keeper. Good on you for your kindness.

Thanks Again for all the kind words!

Tomorrow my other Brother, the American Legion Riders and I will escort him from the funeral home to his final resting place. Since he was a Vet (Ret. Army) the Legion Riders did a flag post at the wake this evening.
