I learned my lesson long ago when I was 19 and had a new sporty.
My friend begged me for like 2 hours to let him test ride it.
In a moment of stupidity, I let him take it for 20 minutes was the deal.
As me and my other friends waited, first an hour, then 2 hours went by, I knew I was screwed!
Then another friend shows up, and says Ray is in the hospital, taken there by ambulance.
We went to see him, and there he was with a broken ankle.
Asked him where my bike was, went to get it, and the footpeg folded up and crushed the primary case,
no way to ride it like that. Cost me almost $400, and that was back in 1972. Of course he never paid me for the damages.
I asked him what happened, and he said he tried to lay it down too far in a corner, and dumped it trapping his foot!
Ever since then, NO ONE ride my bikes!

I've had so many things ruined that I lent to people, I just stopped lending stuff out anymore..

Back when I was in my 20's my youngest brother asked to borrow my bike ('78' Suzuki 750)to look for a job,I told him no.My dad convinced me to let him, sure enough he totals it & lives to tell about it.I had no insurance & a busted up brother. So you can probably guess my answer.

I love to ride I do not love my ride. It is not a person and it is not a family member. Having said that nobody has ever asked and I have never asked anyone else.

Unless they're the ones putting gas in the tank & paying the insurance bill(s) = hecks to the NO!

Way back in '75 let a friend take my 1st street bike for a spin (once) and he dumped it in the parking lot pulling a wheelie. Took awhile to get reimbursed for the damage & sux watching your nice scoot come crashing down in front of you.

I have let my oldest son ride my bikes, but I taught him to ride, and he's been riding since he was about 6 (he's 24 now and has his own bike). There are a very few close friends that I would consider also, well maybe only one.

I won't let ppl ride my bike, even my best friends. On the other hand, if my best friends offer me their motorcycles, I wouldn't ride either. Basically I don't want anything happen to my bike and I do not want to wreck ppl's bikes. Fair enough?

A bike to me is a personal thing. No, and I don't ask to ride anyone's either.

July 4, 1971. I let my friend drive my 70 Vette and he let me ride his bike for the weekend.

A cage turned left in front of me at an intersection. His bike was totaled. The cage owners insurance paid for the damage and hospital bills. From that day on, I ride no ones bike or drive their car and no one rides mine.

My insurance says no one can ride my bike except a repair shop tech. I have it insured for declared value.
