Default Another Ape ?

On an 01 Road King, would I need to change/extend the lines & cables if I went to a set of mini apes - 10 1/2" or 12 1/2" ? I have the Buck Horns on it now.

Any info would be appreciated ...THANKS !!

Yes. I have an 01 Road King. Recently went with 12" apes and spent a boatload on Magnum Shielding black pearl cables plus wire extensions (pretty cheap).

+I had 10" apes on my 09...and thought cables were maxed out, read awhile back that someone put on 12" apes using stock cables

Thanks guys !!

I asked because someone told me...."you can use stock cables, and wires as long as you stay under 16 inches". Mine look like they have a lot of slack, but don't think there's that much. I was thinking maybe the 10's, but if I would need the wires, and cables might as well go with 16's.

Thanks again !!

you will need longer cables if you go to 16's

Yeah, I know that, wasn't sure about the 10's or the 12 1/2's

Choose the bars that you like, and fit you, then sort out the correct cables and brake lines. Getting the bars right goes a long way to making your ride more comfortable, and sets up the 'look' of your bike.
