I had a shop tell me to take it for about 50 miles. I just put a new michelin commander 2 front tire on and it felt a little weird in turns for about 50-100 miles. After that it has been fine.

I appreciate the info, good stuff to know - will keep ya'll toasted.
I know that you have gotten a lot of advice here and I don't want to add any confusion to things but I will tell ya my story. I have had Dunlops and Avon Venoms on my Softail and my Indy mechanic is amazed at how many miles that I can get on a set of tires. I don't have any trouble getting at least 13,000 and the most that I have gotten was 15,000 on a set of tires which, being on a trip, I had worn them to the core before I was able to get to a shop to have them changed. There are a lot of factors that can cause tire pressure to change. I check my tires before I leave for a ride but I don't get **** about 1 or 2 pounds one way or the other because if I did, I would be constantly adjusting my tire pressure and I don't see the need. Based on the mileage that I get on my tires and the way that I ride, my way works good enough for me.

When I get new tires I just head up the canyon for about 50 miles and each turn lean a little farther., then good to go!
