You can't get any closer to the airport that's for sure.

You should see those guys lane split on the freeway. Poetry in motion. I would never try to outrun a CHP motor officer.

I don't know if it's still required, but to pass CHP motor school, prospects used to have to do one final move:

Take a test bike into a controlled low side, dismount during the slide while pulling a sidearm, and then use the bike as cover.
Would probably be hard to do now with ABS, add linked braking and it would get even harder. Just a guess...

CHP continues to ride the BMW's to well over 100,000 miles. CHP only retires the bikes when a repair exceeds $2500. I think the auctioned run-out BMW's is a bad investment.
About 25% of the CHP fleet is the recently acquired Kawasaki Concours 1400. The company(Beaudry Kawasaki in Idaho) that did the LEO conversions of the Kawasaki is now out of business. The CHP decision to go to HD was no doubt influenced by the lack of a police model from Kawasaki.

A buddy of mine says this is a good idea, because now he'll be able to "hear the CHP coming". I guess he.just got a ticket from a CHP on a BMW that was able to sneak up on him.

I noticed the Police 2014 Electra Glide and Road King have factory cruise control; I do not think the 2013 Police bikes and earlier ever had factory cruise control. Also on the Road King they switch the speedometer and tachometer location, a lager 5” tach in the tank console and a 4” speedo mounted on the handlebar mount cover.

I just saw one on my way to work parked at a truck scale before I saw this post and had to take a double-take. I liked the BMWs but that new bike looks pretty damn sweet.
