It's a harley forum, lets get back to what we do best, pile-on the sportrider crowd. ( I'm joking )

+1 on that! I'm getting a SGS in a few weeks and I know I'll love the bike but there are 3 things I wish they hadn't done..... 19" front wheel. Cutting the front fender back. Glossy black inner fairing. I might look into changing all three at some point. Maybe just put a matte clear over the fairing OR paint it Mysterious Red Sunglo.....DENIM.

But this is about wheels......

I don't like the big front wheel look.
Reminds me of an antique potato plow a woman might use to decorate a garden.

Default Rims for handling

I am going the opposite direction. I only enjoyed my stock skinny 21" Deuce rim after putting a fatter Metzler 880 90/90 on it to help the bike take bumps and corner better. But it was never enough.

Tried to buy a 19" wire wheel setup off Ebay but the guy was making them all wrong and actually sent me one that he bent the spokes to get the rim centered as his choice of rim was from a different lace pattern than Harley. Dumb.

So I went back on the net and scored a stock Deuce hub for re-lacing.

Yesterday I got my NEW 19" wide Alloy WM4 chromed alloy rim/chromed spokes/chromed nipples back from Buchanan's. 2 3/4 inch wide. All trued and gleaming. Just perfect for a floating rotor upgrade. It will run a big fat 110/90 and with a little massaging should fit under the stock fender and look like it came that way from the factory.

A 19 is still large enough to not hurt the classic look of a Deuce IMO. And it will definitely work way better. C'mon Spring. Can't wait to see what this new rig feels like.

What a gorgeous looking 19 this Sun rim was. It was darn near the last one Buchanan's had as they have discontinued it. Probably to focus on 35" hoops, haha.

Whether you like the look or not, it actually predates Harley Davidson putting a motor on a pedal bike:

I think its a fad that will look as dated in a few years as this does now.

But maybe I'm wrong.
Eventually every bike & look becomes "dated", but whether it eventually becomes a "classic" look is what counts IMO.
