What's the big deal with Fairing Lowers
This is a serious question, so please don't blast me here. What is the big deal with Fairing Lowers? I'm trying to understand why they are so advantageous.
I have them on my RGU and they look okay but I think just having the crash bar without the lowers looks pretty cool too. I don't use the pockets because they don't lock and I heard they aren't waterproof.
Seems to me that more air would get to the engine without them and maybe the bike would run cooler?
Figure I'll try riding without them for awhile to see if there is any difference but I'm not sure why these are such a hot item.

I really like the look on a lot of bikes. Planning to get a Street Glide and will order lowers with it. I'm sure there's function in addition to form, but until I ride something with them on and see for myself, form does it for me.

I put mine on for the winter and for speakers, thinking I would take them off for summer. I like them alot, helps wind buffeting. I did notice the exhaust was hotter in the summer, and it was real hot here for summer, but ran fine. I ended up taking the adjustable doors out, and it funnels a lot of air to the engine and I believe it runs cooler, plus I got to keep my tunes!
