What's the big deal with Fairing Lowers
#23
Put the magnetic doors on my Limited and like the ease of getting in them while riding. They are not water proof but I can keep a small towel in for wiping mist of glasses and windshield, and I usually have a spare pair of riding glasses and a small multi tool in there.

I added them to my EGC after the first winter owning it. Makes a big difference in comfort level in the cold and boots stay dryer in the rain. I agree with CWDoc 115, my right one blocked a rock that would have hit my shin just above my boot top.

I think they fit the look of those bikes just fine. Anytime I'm caught in the rain and have had the windshield on, only thing that gets wet are my legs - from the knees down.

Coming home with soaking wet feet in the winter is why I bought a set of fairing lowers. However, in the summer, I want to feel some wind over my knees, so they come off. Same idea as going to an ultra short windshield in the summer, I don't like riding in a cocoon.
Plus, the ugly, part, which I mentioned earler. lol
But I don't think they're a big deal, or particularly controversial.

Pro's
Keeps the cold off
Keeps the rain off
Less fatigue on long trips
Pocket's for sun screen etc.. made easy with HD magnetic doors
Vents opens and closes without tools
Con's
Hotter in the summer?
More waxing
No engine guard mounted lights etc
I thought I might take mine off during the summer but I do too many road trips and I really like them for that. August I was on a road trip with a lot of rain even snow and sleet on top of Mt. Evans I was surprised at how dry/warm I stayed compared to my Road King without lowers. Around here a lot of extreme in temps, two weeks ago I took off on a road trip and in the morning it was in the low 40's but went to the 70's; closed in the am and open in the afternoon. I'm really starting to like the creature comforts, no more roughing it for me been there done that, I like my Geezer Glide
