Nitrogen Tire Filling
I understand filling tires with nitrogen has been around for a while but up here in Canada its still relatively new. Anyone use this in their scoot tires and what are the benefits if there are any? Its almost $10 a tire to do it up here just wondering what you guys think?

RE: Nitrogen Tire Filling
I don't think the benefit will ever exceed the cost plus I doubt that those that offer the nitrogen have the equipment to evacuate all of the air prior to filling so at best the nitrogen will be contaminated with air right from the beginning. IMO

RE: Nitrogen Tire Filling
This was a constant topic of discussion on sportbike forums...
Heres my $0.02 on the subject:
Nitrogen is lighter than air...
Yep, but not enough to make a difference on ANY kind of motorcycle.
Nitrogen stays cooler than air...
Yep, but tires grab better when they are warm.
Nitrogen will not cause the rubber to break-down as quickly as air...
Maybe, but how many tires have you had to replace due to wear from the inside?
Nitrogen (in my tires) is something that I can tell all my buddies I have, and that they should do too ...
Yep, but at $8 - $15 dollars per tire, the money is better spenton beer.
*Also acceptable would be - Do you know how many people will hear a "this idiot came into the shop and paid me to put nitrogen into his tires" story?

RE: Nitrogen Tire Filling
I have some Harley Davidson air I'm selling for $80 a pressurized can. Comes with a box of stick on tattoos. If you're interested please enclose a resume of references to see if you "qualify" to use this stuff.
No knock to you and a decent enough question.....but I gottathink on a bike this is not worth it. F-16 fighter jet maybe, but a scoot, no. JMHO [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

RE: Nitrogen Tire Filling
If you can afford it and it makes you feel good, why not fill your tires with Ni? I mean regular old air is almost 80% Ni anyway.

RE: Nitrogen Tire Filling
Nitrogen tire filling. The plus and negatives.
You need 92% nitro to make it effective. There is no foundation to make it a short term help with tires. In basket ***** it is a big difference. With auto and bike tires, the only help is it slows down the aging process internally. Since air has moister, it breaks down the tire molecules. Nitrogen doesn't and it can prolong tire life. Since the Nitrogen molecules are larger, it takes less time to escape. For an average consumer, it just doesn't justify paying the price to use it. My 2 cents as a Michelin&Bridgestone tire expert and a ASE certified service advisor.
