Ever buy a former rental bike, and regret it?
Looking around at 2013 RG Ultras, and looking for a deal.
I know the 2015s will be coming out sometime in 2014, but always liked the current style.
One option is a 2013 RG Ultra dealer rental with 11K miles. Likely buy it right.
Looks fine....haven't ridden it yet and nervous about the rental aspect.
Anyone want to share experience in that area?
Thanks -

No personal experience owning one, but bear with me. A buddy of mine was dealing on one last year, and was expressing some concerns about whether or not the bike had the crap beat out of it, kind of going with the whole anecdotal stories about rental cars being driven like they were stolen. This may vary by dealer, but what he found out was that a senior tech rode the bike and went over it every time it came back in. My buddy scoffed at that in disbelief, but what they told him was they can't have crappy bikes in their rental fleet as many people who rent are actually doing extended "test rides". So they made sure they were in good shape. Of course they handled all the service and any issues that came up. So he bought it, and he's had no issues with it in over a year. I'd ask a lot of questions, including maybe the service guys. See if you can get them to extend the warranty, too. More peace of mind.
Let us know how it turns out.
Good luck!!

My '09 Heritage was a dealer rental. Bought it with 10k miles on it about three years ago. No problems, no regrets. One fine machine.
Oh yeah, got a really good deal on it too.

I bought an '09 RKC in '11 with 30,000 miles that was a rental. I got a good deal on it and put another 10,000 miles on it before I sold it. A really nice bike that I sometimes regret selling,

That's almost certainly true! Tha,t and as has been said before; Rentals are the fastest ones you can get!

That's the main upside to a rental. Maybe the OP could swing a free extended warranty.

Once nice thing about a rental the dealer will have complete service history. IF they can print it up shouldn't be an issue. The rental fleet can not be garbage I've rented a few times over the weekend and can tell you that if those bikes would of been garbage I wouldn't own a Harley at the moment.
