My late stepfather bought nothing but rental cages. Most from Avis or Budget. He put hundreds of thousands of miles on them and never had a single complaint. To many here think that Harleys are made of fine china and need to be treated as such. If I weren't so old and beat up already I'd have no problem taking mine out and using it like a dual sport to the extent it could handle the terrain.

I bought a 06 electra glide that was a rental, I did get a 3 year extended warenty and used it on the ferring brackets and an electrical issue. other than that it has been a very good bike, the dealer had all the service/maintenance records.

mine was higher in milage (50K) so it's paint job reflected that with little dings and such but therwise it runs like a beast.

We bought a rental bike out of Rahway NJ for my wife back in '05. It was a '04 heritage on eBay for a ridiculous low price. I flew from CA to NJ to ride it home... 12k covered the cost of the bike, plane fare, train fare, food, and motels on the ride home.

Best solo vacation I've ever had.

The bike has been trouble free ever since we bought it... had 10k on it when we bought it and it has 40k on it now.

Hers is the one with the tour pak

Husband's 2008 Electra Glide Std. was a rental. He bought it with 7000 miles on it. It's been four years and no problems. Just regular maintenance and it's happy

Search "rental car abuse" on You Tube. It says a lot about HD if it can stand up to that kind of abuse

Add me to the list. I bought an Executive Fly & Ride unit with 5,600 miles on her back in December. I've since put 16,000 miles on her in the last nine months with nary an issue--

My '08 FLHTC was a rental. The dealer told me that all their rentals are broken in for hundreds of miles by their techs and then well maintained. He said they do this because they believe that a happy rental customer often turns into a hapy buyer. They had all the service records and I could see that the oil was changed every 2,500 miles and all other maintenance was done.

I was able to get a great price on it, $6k off new, and then was able to buy the ESP and still end up way below new.

25,000 miles later, I am still happy with the bike and the deal.

I bought a 2000 RG that was a rental bike. No problems with it, but I sure didn't appreciate the dealer hiding the fact that it was a rental bike. I got the news second hand from the service manager when I brought it in for it's free oil change. The salesman told me it was a trade in when I bought it.
