Default Softail Sturgis model??

Just few moments ago, I was reading a report on a local media website about the visit to the Harley Davidson Archives at the Museum in Milwaukee...

One of the pictures called my attention....as I've never seen such model.

it's actually a Softail Custom with shotgun pipes (opposed to the shorty-dual that was standard on that model)....with its paint job and seat insert of the Sturgis model.

We all know that in 1991 there was a Sturgis model and it was a Dyna Glide model.

Anyone knows any story behind this??

The picture is attached....

sure...here's the link to the original report....this' written in brazilian portuguese and the text doesn't say a thing about the motorcycle itself (brazilian media is poorly educated when it comes to HD motorcycles)....

There's a couple interesting things in that article. Too bad there isn't much information. Never seen a Sturgis Softail, couldn't find anything on Google either.

That looks like a raffle bike made just for sturgis to me, but the only real sturgis bike was a 81-82 Dyna Low rider. The First bike with a belt I believe.

Also the more valuable '81 FXB Sturgis....powered by a Shovel. This was before the Dynas...in 81/82 the Dynas were not out yet, this was the real Low Riders. They're commanding good $$$ now, often selling for 9 or 10 grand...and being bought up for that price.

dyna models didn't come out until 90 or 91.

This Softtail Sturgis...gotta be a "one of a kind" build from a dealer or some Indy....or an experimental factory model...is my guess.

Here's a picture of 2 Sturgis Bikes. Both to this day have less than 15,000 miles on them. Everybody always wants to buy them but they are not for sale! Enjoy!

Both the Drive and the Primary were Belt Drive on the Sturgis.
