I'd make a Switchback. Some minor mods in the production model...

Dual disks.
Even better suspension.
Improved windscreen design.
Different front fender.
Wires in the bars.
Carbon fiber wheel option.
Light swingarm (aluminum, chrome moly, etc..)
LED headlight
Something to fix that excess weight hanging off the left side with the alternator, drive and clutch.

Based on feedback,They need a new basic FLH. Something like the RK except stripped down no bags. Like Dickey said earlier, one that looks like a Super Glide Custom on a tour frame.FL front,Springer Front,Wide Glide front, can't decide they would all look good.

By no means should they abandon their "retro" bikes. There is a HUGE demand for them and NOBODY does them like Harley. However, Harley has become a "one trick pony" and even though they are the absolute best at that trick, I'd love to see some variety.
Check out the Motus MST-R for an example of what I'm thinking.

To me that Motus is top heavy. Honda made this CX500 years ago and that thing was really top heavy. Riding an older 75 CB400 was much better than that 500.

Vrod bagger with cruise control, detachable hard bags and fairing, intergrated garmin zumo 660 GPS (that can be removed), 6 speed tranny, laid back seating position, bigger gas tank, 1400 cc engine, and MP3 player/iPod cable hook up. Get her done!

Since Harley has plenty of BT frames (Touring, Dyna and Softtail) , I think having another frame for the Sportster mill would be a big seller. I wouldn't change much, just stretch out the frame about 3". I'd still keep the basic Sporty looks...Sporster tank, maybe a little wider and maybe a "K" model style rear fender (little longer), maybe a little fuller front fender.
This wouldn't be to compete with the Super Glide, it would be to fill the nitch of folks who just love the Sportster but they're over 5' 10" and 175 lbs and feel too big on the standard Sporty.

A factory version would be cool, with decent adjustable suspension for on or off road, good bars, scrambler pipes,& a decent seat.

Something like this only more traditional scrambler pipes with heat shields.

That does look nice but a modern one is already being made by Triumph. I might look into 1 as a 2nd bike.

How about one of these with a 1250 cc vrod engine, transmission and brakes. Also use the Vrod Muscles's LED tail light and side mirror back turn signal & running lights.

I like the looks of the Triumph scrambler but at a starting price of $11,500 I don't see myself scrambling to get one any time soon.
I think HD could be competitive in that market.
