Like Parabellum's idea, I'd like something like a new, properly done XL1200S. I would keep it looking like a classic Sportster: full rear fender, 3.3gal tank, narrow-glide front end, regular switchgear, controls, and lighting. Needs dual front discs, cartridge forks, a decent seat that's at least passable two-up, nicely sprung and damped shocks.

or....
just do this:

A super touring class of bike! BIG....LONG... total cush... cadillac. I'd make wheel base 10 inches longer... adjustable seating position so we can eliminate this tall boy seat bs. This is one reason the new Indians are attractive. Longer....

For guys taller than 6'2" the current touring bikes feel cramped.

A couple ideas come to mind
1. an old skool springer softtail with a knuckle style motor and solo spring seat
2. a stretched out low, lean and mean Road King with old skool leather Indian style bags
3. raked out and stretched backbone softtail ala Captain America

Harley built some for one of the Marvel movies. Was it Captain America? And I don't recall if they were Evos or TCs. I bet that would sell as a limited edition model.

It was actually just a Crossbones in disguise.

Now my bike: VRSCXT

Take the stability and handling of an FXR, Throw a current VRod front end on it, brakes and all and adjustable sport rear shocks. A Revolution motor power the sled, and add an FXDX-T fairing and bags, and you have an modern day HD sport tourer that hauls *** off the factory floor.

#2... Would be something that looks like the Sportster 72, peanut tank, 21" skinny spoke front wheel, stripped down and lean with the same 74" big twin I mentioned above.

I would buy either of those tomorrow if they were available. I realize everyone has a different taste and those might not appeal to anyone but me.

It IS available. It's called a 72!

I would design a NightTrain, except with GLOSS black engine covers, pullback risers with the drag bars, and bring back the Stripper seat. It would come lowered 1" from the factory, with a REAL ducktail, not like that crap like on the Fatbob. It would only come in 1 color. And your choice of WG front end with a 21", or FL front end with a 16". Both front ends would be gloss black.

And, it would be priced like an entry-level Softail Standard.

Same difference. It's modified enough that it's no longer really a Crossbones
