Default How do I make a newer (2000) Harley look older (1960's)?

I picked up a 2000 Road King for a song and my wife absolutely hates the way it looks.
She either likes slammed hot rods, (like our AIH) or vintage big twins.

So my question is, besides adding spoke wheels how do I make a newer (2000) Harley look like an older (1960's) bagger?

Can it be done with bolt on parts vs. a bunch of custom work I don't have time for right now?

add some bubble bags, a 1970's FL buddy seat, and you're set!

Find a picture of an older model bike you like, get yours painted to match and change the tank emblems.

There's a few guys on here that have done a good job of making their modern twin cam bikes look reasonably vintage, but they usually start with Dynas, which are closer to the old FLH's than the new touring bikes are.

I am sure there are a lot of guys who have put some hard work into their scoots to make them look like they want who would disagree with that.

Here is a link to a thread on here about the Switchback, scroll down to post #65 and you will see a pretty good job of someone who took a new bike and made it retro looking. A damn sweet job of it too.https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...tchback-2.html

Link might not be right page,I have mine set for more post/less pages. post #65 though

Leave it with me for a week.
I can put 40 years worth of dirt, rust, and abuse on it easy.

Billy Joel (the singer) has a business that takes newer bikes of all kinds and retro's them. Here is a link to his website. You might be able to get some ideas from him and some of the bikes he's done. Click on the gallery tab and check out the "cruiser" pics. Some pretty good looking ones there.
