Smile Helmet Headset Unique to the 2014

The helmet headset from my 2013 works fine as far as listening to music on my 2014 Limited.....I haven't tried to communicate via CB yet. Apparently, according to my Dealership, the headset that comes with the 14 is unique to the year and other headsets are only partly compatible.....My 2013 headset does not recognize any PTT commands......my dealer says the headset shipped with the 14 will be fully functional when I install it in my helmet......any 14 owners find this to be true as well?? There are a number of little things that I am discovering that my dealer either didn't know to tell me or they simply just didn't know.....I'm not complaining, just wondering if I am getting the straight story....Thanks

I just checked the headset part # that came with my 2010 CVO Ultra and the ones that I just got with the 14 Limited -- same part # on both boxes so they should work just fine with the 14s.

My 2013 headset does not recognize any PTT commands......

??? There are no PTT commands.

Previous year headsets work fine with 2014 models.

The only compatibility issue is with the hand held mic: the hand mic PTT will not activate the CB transmit function, however it is possible to use the hand mic to transmit on the CB by pressing the hand mic PTT AND pressing the right hand control PTT switch at the same time.

If you're having trouble with voice command recognition, I would suggest the radio set up has not been completed? It takes several minutes for the voice command to be ready. On the 4.3 radio, voice command recognition only works with a bluetooth linked phone. On the 6.5 radio, voice command recognition works with a bluetooth linked phone AND with certain other radio/nav functions. See page 85, tables 28 & 29 for details.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your new ride.

Here's mine:

I have a new 2014 with the Infotainment system and I want ONLY a microphone that is compatible with this system. I can listen to radio, phone calls, Intercom and CB over the fairing-mounted speakers. I don't want to wear a headset. Does anyone else with a new 2014 wonder where we can buy just a microphone that plugs in and works with the system properly?
