They'll have one of those things that have test tubes spinning around, separating the HD oil and the inferior oil.

Just NEVER tell the dealer what oil you used in your engine. I wonder if anyone has the time or money to drag HD into a court battle in order for them to prove Amsoil is inferior to their oil VIA independent testing, etc....

You guys do understand that if you have an engine failure under warranty that H-D will have an oil sample run. If that oil is past it's life, or not in spec, they are going to say tough luck.

Absolutely it does. Motorcycles and Harley's tend to sheer oil at a much quicker rate. Will it lubricants fine? Sure. Will it need replacing a lot sooner? Probably!

It's horse hockey like this that has me and my brother switching to Indian. I refuse to buy anything that comes from countries or corporations that operate without scruples or principles...

Here we go again....Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is your friend...If they want you to use specific fluids, they must provide them....as long as the fluids meet manufacturers specs you are good to go.

One thing is for certain. He lost 50% of the cost of a new engine because somebody didn't teach him right. You fill the tank full when you get fuel and check the oil every time you do it. As important as oil is, that's a no compromise rule for me. And on a motorcycle? I won't start one (at the beginning of the day) without checking the oil; on a long ride, every time I get fuel.

Yup, if Harley says the CUSTOMER must use Harley fluids then Harley has to supply those fluids free of charge.

Thats NOT what the bulletin says though. Harley is telling the DEALERS to use Harley oil, if they dont then the warranty repair may be on the DEALERS dime. All perfectly legal.

I guess I might as well just move on to Honda.

Moco running me off due to motor oil.
