Step one complete. So how long until Street Bob and Road King manufacturing is ported offshore to keep the stockholders happy? If they had done it all at once people would scream, so instead they're employing the boiling frog method to minimize the outrage.
In related news, we just got an Indian dealership here and tons of potential buyers have been checking it out. Which is beginning to make sense.

I wouldn't worry about the water cooling, and the haters of it. Porsche weathered the storm just fine on the 911.
Having smaller bikes in the line up is smart, and I welcome them. Options are generally a good thing.

There is some confusion....the version of these bikes that will be sold in the US market will be made in KANSAS CITY, USA, not India.
They will also be made in India...for foreign markets only. NOT built in India & sold in the US.
I think it's great...now new or young riders that would be looking at a Japanese manufacturer for an entry level bike will have another option. This is only going to strengthen HD.
As for the engine...same concept as the VROD engine. It's a damned good & reliable engine. I hear people saying all the time that if they would put the VROD engine in a touring bike they would be all over it....wait a few months & you'll see a bigger version of that in the new Road Glide...get ready because air cooled is eventually going to be phased out permanently and be replaced by fully liquid cooled bikes through the entire line.
I've always loved air cooled everything for simplicity, but our bikes are getting so complicated now with all of the electronics, plus we have to mod significantly to get descent power out of them, why not go to fully liquid cooled...then we would have an engine that performed great straight out of the box & we wouldn't feel the need to spend thousands on engine mods to make it run like it should. Just food for thought.

Agreed. I like that one and the urban custom. I was thinking of building one up. Now I may wait and get a new one to build up.
Those concepts are what I was targeting.

Where do you think the bulk of the component's are going to be made ? The KC assembly plant makes the piglets not big twins , they won't spend the money to retool for component production there it will just be assembly to get around import tariffs and to get the US made sticker till they see if the smaller models will go over on the US market , don't kid yourself one bit .
