Default Respect for half-helmet riders--going back to FF

So I have had a full-face since I got the Road King three years ago. I bought a half-helmet and tried it out this evening. Wow...how do you folks deal with it? I almost always ride without a windshield and I could barely hear anything and the bugs where zapping me constantly. I am impressed that folks do this every day. I can see if you have a fairing or shield, but man that is rugged in the wind with a beanie.

Without a windscreen I'd have to have a full face too.

The trick is simple. It's called a windshield.

I rode with a half and loved it. I do ride an FLD so the windshield was normally on. The helmet probably aves my life when we were hit, the road ground about 1/8 into the side of it. I have been thinking that could have been my nose just as easy. Probably going to be in a FF full time from now on. I will miss the wind, but I would miss my nose more.

I usually only run a windshield on LONG trips. And if I wear a helmet, it's a beanie. You get used to it. If I wanted to be behind a windshield that much, I'd drive my cage. Suppose that's not for everyone.

I ride without a helmet a good portion of the time. In the summer I rarely use my windshield. I like the feeling I suppose. I've only been stung once this summer so far. lol

Getting sand blasted on occasion isn't always fun but I deal with it.

The funny thing is all last winter I used my windshield. Plus I used it on my last trip back in late May/ early June. After that I removed it. It took a couple of days to get used to having the wind on my chest at highway speed. But now I don't notice it. Once it gets cold I'll put it back on again.

Either way, it's all good. Eating bugs is nutritious!

I own 3 helmets, the full face I seldom wear, only if if I know I'm gonna be riding in real hard rain.
I prefer the 1/2, but will wear the 3/4 if the weather is questionable.
But that being said, I do ride a FLHTK, so the weather doesn't bother me that much.

Usually ride without a helmet, when I do it's a half. I only use my windshield in the winter, and at night during grasshopper season lol. I love the feel of the wind!
