I'm exactly the same. At 6,400 after a 220 mile ride today. Not nearly as much as I'd like but wit two kids in travel sports and always on the go it is not bad. My wife and I will be empty nesters in 5 years and then the longer trips begin

My miles on the road has sucked this year. The weather has been great to put huge miles on but life has got in the way this year. It is what it is, I hate it but commitments come first.

I get that feeling every fall, also...Then I remember it's South Carolina and the season, for us, is extended to December, sometimes mid-January, then I just smile and lol .
Seriously, we do have very mild winters here lately. Back when I worked and rode the scooter to work it wasn't bad at all until Jan or Feb. Now that I'm back into riding I look forward to an extended season. I can always head further south.

Didn't put as many miles on this year, but we had a way later start this year. Last year there was no snow, and warm, and I was riding consistently on March 11. This year didn't get the bike out until April 5. Rode to a conference in 37 degree weather and woke up to this the next day:
Then we didn't have snowmelt until early May, so riding season is almost 2 months shorter.

As a new rider last year, I only put on 5200 miles in 4 months.
Looked at the odometer today and noticed I was just over 7200. This is after I drive about 35000 miles in the company truck, and 5k on my personal truck. Yeah yeah, I know. I spend a lot of my time sitting on my @$$.
To me it's not the amount of miles ridden but the milestones that I reach in the miles that I do ride.
Last year just starting out, I rode to Sturgis, did Needles 2 up, and spent time with the wife. (Talk about jumping in with both feet...the big trip, not the wife)
This year, did a few large group rides, Sturgis, Needles (way easier the 2nd time around and 1 up), rode 400 miles in the rain which got me over a lot of issues in the twisties and on the freeways, spent a lot more time with the wife, and am finally very comfortable and confident on the bike.

I can ride for hours and not travel more than 150 miles. I am blessed to live in rural South Carolina where there are roads that go for miles and not see another vehicle. Speed limit 45-55 mph and me in no hurry. I can and have ridden all day and not traveled more than 300 miles.
As others have said, it's not a contest. I enjoy every mile, short or long.

Hey, 6400 miles is some good riding! Sad to say many years I've not ridden that much, but this year with my "new" Ultra Limited (2012) I've ridden 8k+ so far.

That is still above the average per season.
This year the cold wet late spring held a lot of the Midwest up for riding.
Ride when you can. Do not worry about miles. You can make up for it when you retire.
I'm retired and shoot for 30K/year. This year with the bad spring and my wife reminding me in June that I promised five years ago to paint the house has me behind at 21K so far.

You guys are doing far better than me.I've probably done less than 1000 miles all year.
Knee surgery late Febuary, off work and bike for 9 weeks.Road back and forth to work a couple of months then late July had knee replaced on same knee.Been back to work 3 weeks but cant ride yet.
Living in Texas so hopefully will be riding soon and as far into our winters here as I can handle.
Man I miss my bike......
