No start after running awhile.
My 2006 Softail Deluxe seems to be spooked. For a third time and after a year old battery, my bike starts and runs. After an hour or so run if I shut it down, it will not start. It clicks as if the battery is too low. Is this bike equipped with a starter solenoid or could it be a bad starter. Today after I let is sit over an hour waiting for AAA to come, it started.
Any suggestions. I plan to buy another new battery but do not want to be concerned every time I ride.
Email me at dpx2@comcast.net.
Thanks.
Dave.

I can only offer an opinion here as I am anything but a mechanic. But until someone that is posts I ask could it be a starter relay? $15 dollar part under the seat in the fuse block. Or maybe the fuse block is in a different location?

Check all battery cable connections...
From the battery negative post to the frame, and from battery positive post to starter. Also, check the starter mount bolts. That is your ground for the starter, and can make weak electrical connection if loose. The starter solenoid is on the end of the starter, right side of bike.
Usually if battery is drained and allowed to sit a short while, then it builds up power again, means the battery has low charge. Could be just loose connections not allowing the battery to charge fully. You can have your battery checked at any local auto parts store for free. Wouldn't hurt to try that before replacing.
