Cool Adjusting Baffles Have you done it

Bought a new set of Cycle Shack Mufflers and like them . Before the install I thought about removing some fiberglass from the baffles but did,t . Now I find the mufflers to be too quiet .

Has anyone modified the baffles in cycle shack mufflers and how do you like the sound plus what did you do ??

Which CS mufflers do you have? Mine were the 2.5" and they did not have any packing. They were definitely not quiet, at least for me.

To be honest, I'm not even sure what pipes I have on my bike, they were already on when I bought it and don't have any logo / markings on it. That I could find?

I initially took the fiberglass out, but it didn't make much of a difference. I then took the baffle out to reduce it. My baffles were approx. 10" long, 4" in dia. with reductions on the inlet and outlet to 2" or 2.5"? I cut the tack welds off and separated the baffle from the reductions. Cut the baffles down to 2" and tack welded back together.

Sound is perfect for what I was looking for. I get compliments all the time. Now, with this change, I also have a K&N filter and Commander on it.

I've seen post where some people combined different muff's with different baff's and claimed to get amazing results. Seems like a wast of time to me. Just buy a good "off the shelf" product and be done with it.

The cycle shack slipons are loud as hell as they come from the factory and they sound like **** if you remove or mess with the baffles.

If they are too quiet for you:

1. You will damage your hearing for sure.
2. You will probably really **** off your neighbors.
3. IMHO, they sound like **** with the baffles removed or gutted.

Just some thoughts, I run the same mufflers and IMVHO, they are perfection for these bikes. Any louder and you become "that guy" that the non bikers all hate.

Had 2" CS 2-2 pipes on my 100hp Sporty and my 111hp 103 FXDXT. Added the Thunder Monster quiet baffles to the 103 pipes and they sounded just right; did OK on the dyno too.
