Gas gauge? Harley's have a gas gauge? Simple, ride 2 hours look for gas station, get off the bike and have something to drink. Both you and the bike need liquids.

My 2006 RKClassic has a fuel gauge. It is about as accurate as Al Gore on Global Warming. You are far better off with the odometer, or even taking a peek at the worst.
My 2001 Road King had the same fuel gauge as yours. At 170 miles, it would read half tank and almost need 4+gallons to fill up.

My 92 carburated Dyna has a fuel guage and a reserve. I could not tell you what the fuel guage says but I can tell you there are 90 miles on the trip odometer. Guage aint worth a crap. The old ironhead gots no guage and no speedo and a small tank. Put it on reserve and start looking for a station. Yes I have pushed that bike. [:@]

Trip meter period. I'm thinking of removing the fuel guage and adding something else like a compass.

Just use a cigarette lighter to check the level.
