No Fuel Gauge??

RE: No Fuel Gauge??
The Kuryakyn fuel gauge works pretty well from what I've heard. You could try that. The Harley one (as others have stated), doesn't work too well anyways! Either that or just use your best judgement. Since your bike is most likely carb'ed, (easy to tell if you have a petcock just above the horn cover most likely!), you can just run it till it starts to sputter, switch over to reserve, and then hit the next gas station. Check your odometer and that should give you at least a starting point for determining how far you can go on a tank.

You're supposed to unscrew the cap and look in there. If it's too dark to see, light a match. If there is gas in there, you will know immediately.

My average MPG seems to be around 40 miles to the gallon. Simple math - 5 gallons 200 miles. I personally use the trip meter. Around 150 - 160 miles I'm looking for the pump. As stated before the gauges are not very accurate. My 06 RKC at 150 - 160 miles the gauge reads about 1/4 tank left which is mathmetically right. Just my .02

I used to ride a pre-unit Triumph Bonneville withno fuel gauge. Over time Ilearned to check the fuel level by thumping the side of the tank.

I use the fuel gauge and the trip odometer. My Dad told me thatthere are only three reasons to run out of gas. Broke gauge. Broke , with no money or you are an idiot. Got that lesson the first time I ran out of gas. I have been broke down. I have been flat broke. But I haven't ran out of gas since that lesson.

My guage is stuck and useless. Never had a guage on any of my other bikes and I really dont need one now. Im sure not going to tear the whole thing down to fix it at this time.
Use the trip.
