Mr. Chuck Ruiz
I am contacting your dealership regarding a recent experience a fellow forum member here has encountered during a trip through Wyoming. It was very disappointing to learn that your dealership has supported a decision by Calvin in your service department to respond to this traveler that entered your shop to have a rear tire replaced due to a puncture. Your answer to his time in need was to only replace the tires as a set due to the “mixing tread patterns is against our policy”. When the front tire was “NEW”! This was nothing short of robbery, period however you cut it.
While I understand the reason not to plug or patch a tire from a liability standpoint, I do not understand this reasoning. And leads me, along with many other riders that travel through your area with the understanding that you are only making this recommendation to take full advantage of your customers when they are in a vulnerable situation.
This thread https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...l#post11750823 is being followed by and read by many folks that ride and I am confident they will pass the word. While this situation may not impact your dealer or business model it has without a doubt made an impact in the H.D. Forum community.
The only true way to positively react to this situation would be to step up and respond to not only this customer, but do the right thing and make this right with your customer.
Best regards

SpiderPig,
Good letter, just a point to clear up:
Chuck is the owner of the 3 Deluxe Dealerships (Gillette, Casper, Sundance)
Calvin was the "smirk'n service manager" I had the displeasure of dealing with that evening....

I love this thread. I can't wait everyday to see how many more have posted. It is hilarious. Also can't believe Chuck can just sit back and ignore 550+ posts. I hope that it just keeps growing and that he eventually has to post something. I'll check back tomorrow!
