It is a good, and interesting article shedding a hint of the corporate approach. From a more detailed article (on yahoo)

· Among the most-respected brands, Harley-Davidson (HOG) "excels with a strong vision, impeccable consistency" and, for the most part, smart use of its brand on other products, CoreBrand said. Even so, it has seen its favorable score slip."We think this is due to economic pressure coupled with the position of the firm as an entertainment/lifestyle brand," CoreBrand said.

The survey was about corporate brands specifically, not individual products, and to be considered, a company had to be publicly traded for at least five years and tracked by CoreBrand for a minimum of five years. After determining the 100 brands with the highest familiarity, those with the top and bottom favorable ratings were named. The results tell the story from a business perspective, and weren't meant to capture consumer attitudes, says CoreBrand CEO James Gregory.

Statistics are a funny thing...

They can be manipulated to indicate whatever you like, and usually are. The other side of 'crunching the numbers'! And just because something is popular, doesn't mean diddley squat!

I'm not surprised about Delta...they have been making changes in the past couple years that has negatively affected their loyalty program. Removing, watering down and reducing benefits of their loyalty program.

It's got alot of folks ticked off.

I can't believe Best Buy was ranked as the sixth least respected brands. I think Best Buy rocks! I purchased a large screen plasma TV that took a crap on me almost a year later. Best Buy let me exchange it for a larger one with more features and no extra money out of my pocket. And the warranty period started all over....
