Regarding 'technology on the handlebars'… I have been riding for over 45 years and it has definitely become more/more complicated/dangerous with more/more gladiators/dare-devils on more/more powerful/larger motorcycles...Those who have grown-up with all these new-fangled doo-dads are generally less experienced riders and lack perspective... In some cases, modern technology may (appear to) make some things easier/safer but again, it is a matter of 'perspective'... I enjoy/use the OEM installed/integrated multi-function/frequency receiver/InfoTainment Center (CB/AM-FM-AUX-WX radio/GPS w/ BlueTooth, etc.), but I only use them when conditions are conducive/safe yet such use often significantly diminishes any marginal/relative safety…
Regarding the OP’s concern with cell-phone use (presumably in addition to the above)… I store mine in the TourPack/on the charger or in one of the windshield pouches… It is paired with the GPS/BlueTooth and I can discern a ringtone/see the caller ID/# but I NEVER ANSWER/USE IT WHILE RIDING… I allow the caller to leave a message and if/when I need to listen to that message/return a call, I pull off the road/stop (I tell folks that may try to contact me while I am riding to leave a message and when I find a safe time/place to pull off/stop, I will return their call, usually in about 20 min.)… The so-called smart-cell-phones are not designed/built to be used safely in any mode on a moving motorcycle by a rider... And nobody is SO important to need instant access to answer/initiate a cell-call while riding…
Regarding adding/using a GoPro/video camera (while doing all the above)… Having a 37 year background/perspective in professional/avocational (underwater/aerial/construction) photography… Geeze man, I think Darwin is trying to (eventually will) contact YOU…
Generally, there are TOO many media-related, new-fangled, after-market, and/or otherwise poorly designed/non-integral do-dads on our bikes/handlebars and our motorcycle accident-rate will rise significantly because of them…
I believe the new Android 4.2.2 'Jelly Bean' OpSys has the new in-motion texting/calling option...

How does that work? Just like before with a factory headset? What if there are no headsets involved, you just speak up like in a car. It would be kinda fun to freak out people yelling at my bike at stoplights
