I'm voting psychotic experience, if it is your pipes. I starting wearing ear plugs same as most everyone else because of the wind noise. Plus I think my hair was turning Blond. Tremendous (?) difference with plugs installed, now hair is just turning gray.

 

I love the sound of the pipes but the wind noise killed me. I tried earplugs but it blocked out too much. At the local dealership i found what they call a speed sock...it's kinda like a doo rag but its made out of t-shirt material and has elastic around the rim. Its perfect...its blocks out all the wind but not the sound of the pipes.

Plugs are a very good investment. Otherwise you will always be saying..."will someone answer that phone!"

 

What kinds of plugs are people using? Just cheapo disposible ones? I saw a guy at the last bike show making custom earplugs...worth it?

I have several pairs from Etymotic Research www.etymotic.com I use the ER6i when I listen to the radio on the bike and the ER20 is greatfor just reducing background noise.

Wear them always over 60mph rides. Hated the wind noise!!!!!!!!!

 

I try'ed some yesterday had trouble hearing the wife through the head set. Dont know if this is a bad thing not being able to hear her. So I dont wear them
