Default On the attitudes of other bikers

The Goldwing road rage thread here makes me thing about other bikers on the road. A significant percentage seem to have attitude, even HD riders.

It doesn't bother me really. It's actually one of the things I enjoy about riding.

The other day, on a nice weekend ride a cat pulled next to me on his Wide Glide. Nice bike. And he didn't crowd my lane or anything.

He had a Dodgers shirt on, so I told him "Win tonight baby". He smiled.

Then he rode off really fast, and did the no hands flying thing. I didn't take any offense. I'd say this was a good attitude. Though it was clear he wanted to show off he could ride. Good for him. So can I.

I guess what I'm saying is don't sweat the small stuff. If someone wants to ride a certain way, as long as they don't take me or a kid out, I don't care.

I really dont care what anyone else does, but.... the other night in my car, 2 lane, no passing coming up on a hill you cant see, a group of about 6 crotch rockets, (doesnt matter) come up behind me. First 2 guys go around me at about 90MPH. A dump truck pops the hill, both made it around, but Im sure the dump guy **** his pants as well as the 2nd bike guy. We all pull up to the light and I yelled at him what a stupid move that was. He just shook his head yes. He was scared shitless and knew he was stupid. The oldest of the whole group was maybe 20. I have never done that before but I couldnt help it. Thats why people dont like motorcycles. Ride how you want, but damn, dont be stupid.

I think motorcycles can bring the worse out in otherwise normal people as they equate owning a bike with being Billy Badass. They try to put on an image and the behavior comes with that. Not everyone, of course, but I think a good number of people are like that--at least based on what I have seen. When these people buy Harley's, it is even worse, just because the image Harley holds in the public mind. In their mind, they then become Super Billy Badass. They may be really nice people in their daily lives, but once they get on a motorcycle they become aggressive and think they are Rambo, especially if their pipes are over 95 Db and they have skulls somewhere on their bike or clothing.

In my experience it's mostly new young rider's that do stupid stuff. If they survive a year or three they wise up real quick. Bad stuff happens real fast on a bike. Never ride beyond your comfort level, to do so invites bad things.

I will agree Motorcycles do adjust our attitudes, But not so much as the internet. Get on a keyboard and a Harley Forum and the meek and mild become Born to be Wild. This is a fantasy camp, regular guys become hardcore bikers, you would swear half the guys on this site are patched members of an outlaw gang. It is all in fun, better here than on the street. Lots of stories, some true and some BS, this is entertainment. Nothing more. In the real world I am a mild mannered Banker, on my Hog I can pretend to be a bad *** Biker. Pretty much the truth don't you think? We are just a bunch of Big kids. Except for you Real Bikers, HA.

Riding south on I-95 last weekend a crotch rocket rider went past us at 90-100mph, on our left, standing on the left side of his bike with both legs. About 10 seconds later 5 crotch rockets zoom past us on our right and all the riders were laying flat along their tanks and seats. Crazy.

I think everyone should ride, talk, walk, sit, ****, and spit just the way I do. The world would be a much better place if everyone would just try to emulate me. Of course I know it can't be done because I'm the best at all I do but.........It would be nice if some of you would at least try.

You must agree I'm sure. After all............I AM IRONASS!!! Just put *** in place of man and you will understand.

Or not.
