You don't have to be an American to understand this thread. I am Canadian and I am thankful for everyone as well as their sons and daughters that choose to serve. (Both north and south of the 49th) When you choose to serve you choose to serve your COUNTRY, not the particular leader at the time since most Military careers outlast the politcal careers of those in office. Just because a person doesn't agree with a certain politcal leaders ideals, does not make it any less noble to join and serve one's country.

Whhooooah, to both of you. I turn 41 in April, and just signed into a reserve unit over the weekend. I am prior service, and have been thinking about it for a year. I just couldnt sit by any longer with all that is happening in the world. Charlie Mike, and God bless your son as he answers the call to duty.

Congrats and thanksto your son for makingthe decision to serve our country. My son left back in Sept for basic @ Benning and is @ Ft Gordon now going to school. I am proud and I know you are also. I am retired Navy myself, so I kinda scratched my head when mine joined the Army, but it was his choice. Not sure, but he grads in May and probably will deploy to Iraq shortly after. Good luck to son!!!
