Default Removal of plastic film - best way to remove residue

Just bought a Softail Breakout, and I removed the pillion seat, underneath of which is a clear plastic film which is stuck onto the rear fender. It peels off easily but leaves a sticky residue behind. What is the recommended product to use to remove the residue without affecting the clear coat?

don't use goofoff. It will eat your paint. WD40 or even rubbing alchohol should work

Goofoff I thought was designed for painted services? There is Goofoff 2 as well...?

3M adhesive remover works great....

Hey Deuuuce,
You're right. I googled the goof off and it is basically denatured alchohol.

HEAT! Use a blow dryer on the hottest setting to loosen the adhesive and wipe it off. Anything that's left over should come off w/Goo Gone.

I use this method on the hull of my boat when changing out stickers and it works really well without much effort.

I used WD40 - worked like a charm immediately. No effect on paint, cleans up easily.

WD40 is perfect for this.
It will not harm paint, and I've never had any adhesive residue that it didn't take off.
