Bike Police Officer meeting!

Bike Police Officer meeting!
Today I am in line for lunch @ Boston Market & a bike police officer walks up behind me. We start to chat & I ask him what he is riding these days. “HARLEY” he tells me. I tell him that’s great (considering I have a RKC)!
He tells me that most states are going or have gone back to Harley because they can’t keep the Kawasaki’s going. He tells me that at 10,000 miles the Kawasaki is broken down and always in he shop after that. They just can’t keep the Kawasaki’s on the street like the Harleys.
He tells me that he has not met a seasoned motorcycle officer that does not prefer a Harley to any other bike.

RE: Bike Police Officer meeting!
Wife and I stopped for gas on a ride Friday. There were two CHP bike officers there on BMW's. Both liked their 'work' bikes. One rode a Beamer off duty, the other a Harley Ultra.
It kills me that Cities and States are buying foreign motorcycles. When will the Cops be driving Toyotas because they are cheaper. Lets get a little National Pride in our products. When Jap cops drive Chevy's we can buy Kowies

There is a mis-conception, IMO, that Harley's are American made bikes. They are assembled in the US but look in a Harley store where most of the parts come from. We are buying a mix of foreign made and US made bikes when we buy a Harley. It's been said for years that we are in a global economy. HD is the perfect example.
If it were not for foreign competiton, Harley's would not be as good a bike as they are. They have and need competition for the sake of all Harley owners. I'm starting to see more and more Jap V Twins on the road. This will keep Harley on their toes or contribute to their demise. I think Harley will rise to the occasion. In the medium term, I expect to see new engine designs. The air cooled V Twin has run it's course. It really doesn't take much to outrun or outlast a Harley now. How much longer can the MOCO stand still? The V Rod was an attempt to get out of the box, which it is, problem is, it doesn't sell well because it's over priced and it's market demographics don't want a Harley.
Yes, I've very opinionated. People that aren't scare me,

It's true that the motor company uses some foreign parts, but it's Harleys engines, frames, tanks, front ends ect. So I would call it Made in America . And the dollars return to our economy, not some foreign economy.
