Default a quick breakdown

I was riding to work this morning, when the bike suddenly just quit running. No strange sounds, half tank of gas, nothing weird. So about the time I'm getting ready to call work from the side of the road, I had the start button and hope. It fires up I'm thinking some of the tank lining pealing might have starved the carb for a second. Really didn't wanna take her down during riding season, but don't wanna be stuck on the side of the road again. My hoopty is down for repairs, and the live-in is using my truck to get to her job. When it rains, it pours apparently.

Maybe not. Why would you think the lining is turning loose? I actually have never seen the lining turn loose in a tank. I have heard about it but never seen it. Carbed or fuel injected? My fuel pressure regulator went out on my 03 and it pulled that once before it failed completely. Only fuel problem I have had with the fi. I actually had a plenum gasket get hard and break seal on my 98 which is carbed. That bike still ran but like ****. I have never seen a vapor lock in any of my motorcycles. Figure that might get throwed out there sometime. Just my weed eater and the cap vent plugged. I have seen lots of ignitions shut down when hot or over a loose wire/ weak circuit breaker. I would suspect ignition first. Carry an extra plug and check fire next time it shuts down.

it's a 2000 with an 02 gas tank.... carb'd. I've seen the lining falling, and been picking it out as I can when I fill up. I was hoping to push it til riding season was over, but doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to do that. Oh well, have 10days off coming up in a couple weeks. Looks like I know what I'll be doing

If you are going to do a tank re-line, go with POR 15 and not Kreem! I did a tank with Kreem and had to re-do it because the Kreem started pealing not long after it was done. Got POR 15 and no problems in years.

used POR-15 when restoring a 65 Impala a few years back.... good, quality stuff. Well, the brakes/rotors need changin anyway... might as well do it all at once

Same thing happened on my 02 carb Superglide many years ago, just quit running. I cycled the run/stop switch with power on and cycled the ignition switch a couple of times. The bike fired up right away. Hasn't happened again......yet.

interesting.. filled her up today, and didn't see anything in there. I'm gonna keep an eye on it, and try to ride it out til riding season is over. I really hate to take her down when I could be out riding instead.
