Chaps/Rain Pants recommendations
Looking for recommendations on chaps or rain pants. Something cheapish, less than $100. Spent some time riding in the rain this weekend, and was thinking how nice it would be to have something other than jeans on my shins, as this was the only part of my body that was uncomfortably wet. I'd like to have something in my saddlebags for when I'm out somewhere and have to ride home in the rain.

Chaps aren't worth a crap in the rain................unless you like your crotch and *** soaking wet. Leather pants work if they're treated, otherwise,Gore tex pants,or a rain suit are the only other things that work.

I wear chaps to keep warm but in the rain I want rain suit pants. My seat seems to collect water and more than once I've found myself riding down the highway sitting in a puddle. it's not a good feeling.

After 5 year, I am still getting good use out of a rain suit I purchase from JC Whitney.

Like Twistnride and Firewoman, I'm sitting here wondering why anyone would want dry knees and a wet ***? Chaps don't work to well sliding down the road either. Tour Master, for one, makes a rainsuit with both pit vents and a back vent. I have a 15 year old First Gear that still works but does not have the venting. I'm shopping for a TM in Sturgis. I know other brands have that venting and it's worth considering.

I picked up a pair of Toadskinz (frog toggs) for around $60 that have seemed to work well so far. The material is more of a nylon than the traditional frog togg material, so I think it will hold up pretty well. It's supposed to be breathable, and has boot stirrups, but the main thing I liked about them is that they zip up the leg far enough for me to be able to put them on without taking off my boots. Some of the tourmaster pants I looked at didn't allow this.

I have a thin rain suit from HD. It packs up very small and is always in a saddle bag. Look for ones that have a heat resistant panel on the inside of the leg to keep it from melting.
