My buddy on his sportbike wants to get a top gun themed helmet painted this winter. If any of you remember the "maverick" helmet he wore in the movie he is going for that look. Might work for him on the red sportbike but not me on the Harley.

 

I say do whatever you want. That's the only answer. Some people will like it, some won't. Do what you want and at least you'll be happy.

 

AT the risk of being Goldwingy......wife and I both bought helmets that match the bike, but then we both like the color.... Like Marcuda, I absolutely don't care what others think, I bought what I like. I didn't buy the bike to look cool, I bought it to ride. I wear a half helmet that is DOT labelled and ALWAYS wear it even though our state (SC) allows us to ride without. With the no driving S.O.B. cagers we got here, I need all the protection I can get Course, I always wear boots and gloves, even though I saw a rider last weekend riding in shorts, tank top and flip flops. Should have mentioned, the chrome helmet is obvioulsy a 'novelty' helmet. A cop in Manhattan Beach with some real motorcycle issues gave me a ticket for a "non-approved" helmet. Called him every kind of chicken sh*t I could think of at the time. Went to the local Harley dealer and bought an official D.O.T. approved motorcycle helmet...and did a bit of customizing. The Judge in Manhattan Beach had a better sense of humor. Fined me $100.00 and suspended it. I don't ride there anymore...but I am legal!

'ya gotta have fun and laugh at life. It is amazing how many kids wave at the fat old biker with the funny lid

Oh, almost forgot. Here in sunny So. Cal. we see lots of people wearing shorts, tank tops and sandles on Harleys. Hate to admit it, but sometines I am one of those idiots. I look exceptionally good at the beginning of summer with my neon white bird legs exposed.
