I look for the best option for quality and value/money. Hd or not it doesn't matter to me, I look at the product itself.
Unless it's a specific product, not just chrome stuff, where one manufacturer is known to be the best in the business. For example, if I want to upgrade brakes ? Brembo rotors and pads
Oil cooler? Jagg
Gloves? Gerbings
Oil ? Amsoil/Spectro/Mobil One
Tuner? PowerVision
Seat ? Mustang (although I have a Sundowner that I scored on ebay)
Windshield? National Cycle/Long Ride
Shocks? Progressive

and so on

I found the chrome bits for my bike from HD to be good qualitY; one big complaint i have regards the digital oil temp gauge on the oil stick. I'm on my third one (changed under warranty) and it's working properly only when it feels like.

Anybody regret buying non HD chrome parts for their bike?
The Boot Dr mini boards have some of the worst chrome jobs i've seen. It's peeling. I picked it up used for cheap and it still works so I won't complain too bad. But i'd never buy one of their crappy products again.

There are USA chromers that doo a **** poor job too. Buyer beware.

If you are looking for levers, one thing you might check on is the fit. I have had aftermarket levers put on two bikes and both rattled a little after installation. They functioned fine. One was a brake lever and the other was a clutch. They just were not exact fits like the original equipment.

The moco hasn't made anything to fit my bike since around 1989 so it's a no brainer for me , I have no use for a dealer or their very overpriced accessories .

I don't mind aftermarket parts as long as they aren't Kury parts.

the only three thing that is on my Harley, that's not Harley is the
touring stabilizer from throttle up industries the Cobra USA
exhaust, and the chrome starter solenoid cover from who knows
where.

What I should have said is that I own a Deuce and HD doesn't make parts for it.

As others have already stated previoulsy, HD does not have an extensive line of aftermarket parts. Even when I stop by the dealer (infrequently) to peruse their wall of goodies, I never see anything that would jump out and make me want to buy it. Also, the pricing is a big factor. I can find a ton of aftermarket accessories online for far less than a comparable part (if HD makes it) would cost me at the dealer. So no, I don't care about HD parts. I really do not think that non-HD aftermarket parts make the bike look non-HD, if that makes sense.

Mirrors, seats, pegs, wheels, derby covers, lights, engine parts, and other "universal" or softail parts don't fit on it? You better look again because they make a lot of parts that fit a Deuce.
