Default Nice stop on our trip home

My wife and I were on our way back home yesterday from an over night trip on our bike. We stopped in a McD's to grab something to drink and cool off. When we walked out there was an older Gentleman sitting with his wife in a new convertible parked next to our Switchback. As we were grabbing our helmets he said "I was just admiring your cycle". He asked all about it, model, year, and how it rode. All the while he had a smile on his face talking to us. It turns out he use to ride a lot, but got too old for it with eyesight and hearing. His kids and grandkids don't live close but his son rides an Ultra Glide. He told me he bought the convertible because he liked the open air, he smiled and said it aint as good as that but, WHAT THE HELL... and laughed. Then he had to show me how it worked.

Anyway, had a nice conversation with the guy and when we were leaving I shook his hand and told him how nice it was to visit with him. He said the pleasure was all his, and to ride as much as I can, some day I wont be able to and I will miss it. The guy even teared up a little as we back out.

Made me think a lot about that on the way home...I will be there some day. Probably not that many years ago someone his age rode by on a Harley and I stopped and watched. It was worth getting in after dark for....

For anyone who read all of that....THANKS!
