I am trying to hook up my universal turn signals on my 99 dyna fxdx. I tried connecting the ground to the ground and the flash to the flash but all it does when i press the turn signal button is run solid. leaving the running wire disconnected. any suggestions?

signals should be grounded by being bolted to the bike. the wire from the signal you are using for ground may not be a ground. universals usually have leads for running, brake, and turn. otherwise use a voltage meter to check for proper signals from your flash perhaps you have the leads from the flasher confused

I'd say Anarchy is right. Depends on what universal signals you are using. If you can give a bit more info about what you have, someone who has same might be able to help.

I'm running Drag Specialties cheapy signals, and they have only two wires, black & red, & dual-filament bulb. The black is 8w running circuit, and red is 23w turns. Ground is through the mounting bolt - no ground wire.

The 'universal' signals you are talking about wouldn't happen to be LED?

If they are, there may not be enough amperage going through the circuit to trip the blinker. You may need a load equalizer to get it to work...
