Matching Vivid Black
Did a search but didn't find anything spefically addressing this. If you were trying to "match" vivid black, is it just a HD label applied to gloss black or is there something unique about it?

Hmm, close by but getting paint from the dealer sounds painful. I am planning to order a CVO Street Glide front fender,(primed) ideally I'd tack DH on the part number but it doesn't come up as a valid number online. Anyone know if that can be done?

Vivid Black Acrylic Lacquer part # 98606DH $23.99 retail.
Clear Top Coat Acrylic Lacquer part #98606EK $23.99 retail.
I buy 2 cans of clear to every can of vivid black.
-edit, sorry, you are looking for a prepainted part, not raw paint?

Good info but its not something I plan to paint myself. I did find the following paint codes -
PPG - 9850 (apparently the OEM brand)
Dupont - 99K
Colorite - 6304

Every manufacturer will have their own interpretation of a color. Go into any paint store and ask for Swiss Coffee. See how many choices you get. If you're trying to match Harley's black, you'll be best off either going through a dealership or finding out where Harley gets their paint.

There are shades of black?
These days most decent paint shops should have a colour-matching system. They should be able to get the colour exact without buying it from Harley.
I mean - how different do you think Harley-Davidson's black is to anyone else's black?

It is Black with no tint to it. I use Chrysler black. PM if you want the PPG base color. The trick to really matching it, is to avoid making it look too "deep". I shoot 3 coats of clear, sand and buff. I have also used single stage PPG Concept acrylic urethane and it matched the "depth" of Harley's paint dead on.
