Helmet Color

RE: Helmet Color
The human eye is a remarkable interpreter of light, but the brain processes just so much information at any given time. When I was a pilot in Alaska, I was part of a study group which was trying to determine the optimum color(s) that a small airplane should be painted for the quickest and surest recognition by others while flying. After much recognition experimentation with 'international orange' and 'florescent red', we tried some 'white' and 'black'. It was the final opinion of the study group that 'snow white' and 'ebony black' were the two best colors depending on snow or no-snow conditions. We concluded that the best color(s) for a small airplane in Alaska was a checkerboard of white and black. Youmight translate that into saying perhaps those two colors are also the 'best' for helmets and motorcycles. I have a 'black and white' helmet..... ......... but I am still going with a fire-engine red bike and a very loud horn. ........... BC

RE: Helmet Color
Safety advocates tested and anecdotally stated thatthe orange Shoei was the best for attention, with white coming a close second.
Not recommended...any helmet with wild graphics, which is equivalent to camouflage, and black.

As an ex MSF instructor I can tell you they teach WHITE above all others. When you are out in traffic in your cage on two wheels if you look you will notice the white ones first.
