Anyone listen to music through earbuds with a device like an iPod shuffle? I'd love to hear some tunes when I ride but part of me thinks it would not be very safe. Just hoping to get some input. Thanks.

I have when on long ride with my Heritage. I do not like it very much though. I have the helmet speakers that I use with the Ultra and that is a great system. I am thinking about a new helmet to use with the Heritage that has Bluetooth speakers in it. That would give me some volume control at the helmet and I would not have to fight with those earbuds.

I love listening to headphones on a long ride. I listen to music all the time as it is somewhat of a stress relief for me. Even when I have my headphones turned all the way up I can still hear everything going on around me so not too worried about the safety thing. Of course I'll still turn it down or off when I'm passing through a big city and get caught in traffic, but that's more so I can focus on the other idiots on the road. I think the right song can definitely make the ride that much better and enjoyable.

I thought about this too then, the safety issue kicks in. Break it down, there is just a reason to ponder on the safety side of it. Emergency vehicles being the main concern. Everyone else is already out to get you. Being gifted with the power of invisibility and all...

I use my iPod (not the shuffle though) and earbuds on longer trips all the time. What I've found is that decent quality earbuds act like earplugs to block the wind noise, so that's easy. And then I don't need to turn up the music very loud at all, so it's relatively easy to hear most of what's going on around me - at least as easy as with just ear plugs.

iPod/iPhone plus Shure earbuds on highway rides. Love it!!! I went through quite a few earbuds before finding Shure. They fit my ear the best to block the most amount of wind noise. Works too good to use around town.

After deafening wind, I've decided it'd be nice to have some music to drown out some of that out, then I too think about the safety aspect, although I guess technically its no different then when I've driven my past cagers with various audio systems, just have to be more visually alert, I've also thought about just throwing in an ear bud in one of my ears for some sound and having one ear free to hear for things like emergency personnel. IDK just have to try it out.

No music for me. I like to hear a car coming up on me and which side they're on, in case I miss seeing them in my mirror, which is rare. I asked my wife if she ever cared about listening to music and was very surprised to hear her say the same thing.
