I just put in a 120R motor in my Road Glide and it has a loud tick. I ran a tank of 91 octane and wondering if I have to run a higher octane to get rid of it. Any advice would be much appreciated.

 

I'll just say it..."they all do that".

 

I use premium gas and at 40mph, mine sounds like a sewing machine. It's embarrassing.

>My sg does not tick at 16k miles. My evo did not tick at 75k before I had the heads rebuilt with high lift springs... After the rebuild it tucked so loud that I felt it necessary to sell ��. I hope that helps. Cams, and performance parts seem to make a Harley motor noisier in my experience. I would put half a pint of stp oil treatment in my evo just to quieten it down. I usually just shake my head when folks try to wake up their bikes with cams andthe like.

 

Yes my 120R has and continues to tick with 14,000 plus miles. BTW it ticks louder with Harley Oil. I use Mobil 1 Twin on my engine and its a little quiter.
