Hope someone can help me out. I have an '07 wide glide. I've purchased 16" apes and the stainless steel braided cable kit to replace the mini-apes and stock cables. The new bars and cable kit was ordered from the HD parts counter catalog specific for my bike. However, I'm getting input from various outside mechanics that the correct way to do this is to put the bars on 1st and then measure for the cables. Does anyone have any experience with ordering the cable kits and they not fit? I'm worried that I'm going to take it to have it all installed from a non-HD shop, the cables not fit, and then I'm stuck with them as they won't be returnable.

I wouldnt get em for Harley either. U can get better stuff for the same amount of money (maybe even less).

Definitely put the bars on first and measure. I got 17in apes and ordered a kit for "15-17 apes." not only are my apes a lil MORE than 17 inches, the cables are STILL a lil too long for my setup. I have SLACK for days...

The only things I buy from the dealership are little things... hardware, gaskets, etc.
